Willow Weaving for Beginners

Blooming Crafty and Heritage Lincolnshire have collaborated to deliver this unique workshop 'Willow Weaving for Beginners'. The course is a 12 hour workshop held over two days, here in Heckington, providing you with beginners traditional basketry skills and diverse knowledge about willow.

We will cover the history of willow growing and basketry throughout Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, growing your own willow, favourite varieties of willow, harvesting, sorting and storing, colours and processes, preparing willow for basketry, terms, tools, and techniques. Following will be a practical session where you will make numerous items to take home with you ranging from; hearts, hoops, fish, flowers, bird feeders or tension trays. This is ideal for anyone looking at learning a new craft.

To be eligible for this course you must be available for both sessions; this course starts on 7th May 2020 and continues on 14th May 2020 (10am - 4pm each day).

This lifelong learning course is part of the Grow programme organised by the Lincolnshire County Council Community Learning service. We aim to attract new learners and courses are open to all aged 19 and over on 31 August 2019.
