Burgh le Marsh has held a prominent position in the local area from pre-Roman times to the present day as it is an outcrop in the local marsh area. Evidence of early occupation has been gathered during building work and excavation. It once enjoyed prominence as a centre for the local farming community. Famous names linked with the town are Bishop Tozer and Edward Steere (missionaries who worked with Livingstone). Many other interesting facts are recorded and many can be seen detailed in our Heritage Centre. A brief illustrated talk will be given at 3 pm each day during the Heritage Weekends.
At 3 pm each day, when open, a visual display and explanation of the lives of ‘Burgh le Marsh’s Colourful History of Comings and Goings’
