Stone Carving Taster Day

A one session course FREE to new learners from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm on Monday 14 May at the Heritage Skills Centre, Lincoln Castle, Castle Hill, Lincoln LN1 3AA.
Join experts from the Heritage Skills Centre and learn how to use a chisel with this taste of stone masonry.
This short course offers a simple introduction to the philosophy and techniques of stone masonry using low relief carving.
Learners will be taken through the process of making a simple design based on a historic decorative theme, which will be transferred to stone, and then cut into a relief carving using stone carving tools.
All techniques will be clearly demonstrated and then learners will be supported to put them into practice under expert supervision.
Materials and equipment will be provided.
Tea, coffee & cake provided.

This lifelong learning course is part of the Grow programme organised by the Lincolnshire County Council Community Learning service. We aim to attract new learners and courses are open to all aged 19 and over on 31 August 2017.
