Role Title: Visitor & Operations Manager
Location: Greyfriars, Lincoln, UK (with some work at Heritage Lincolnshire Offices in Heckington, Sleaford)
Salary: Up to £37,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, 3 years (Fixed term, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, with potential for extension)

As the Visitor & Operations Manager for the historic Greyfriars site in Lincoln, you’ll be at the heart of a transformative project that turns this iconic landmark into a thriving cultural centre. You’ll join us during the construction phase, working closely with our project team to further develop and deliver an exciting programme of activities, and will take full charge of the operational management post-opening.
This is a role for a dynamic, entrepreneurial manager who can bring a strategic vision to life, driving both visitor engagement and financial sustainability. If you have a strong track record in activity planning and delivery, site management, business development, and stakeholder engagement, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact in the City of Lincoln.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the Transformation: Oversee the implementation and growth of the Greyfriars Activity Plan, ensuring that it captivates and grows audiences.
- Build a Winning Team: Recruit and manage a diverse team of staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative environment that delivers exceptional visitor experiences.
- Drive Business Development: Market Greyfriars as a prime venue for events and cultural activities, securing partnerships and bookings that enhance the site's commercial viability.
- Ensure Operational Excellence: Establish and manage all operational structures, ensuring compliance with legal and safety obligations and maintaining high standards of efficiency.
- Shape the Greyfriars Brand: with the Chief Executive develop a compelling brand and marketing strategy, positioning Greyfriars as a premier cultural destination in Lincoln.
- Engage Stakeholders: Build on the strong relationships with key partners, including our project partners City of Lincoln Council, community groups, and external organisations including our funders: National Lottery Heritage Fund; Investors in Lincoln; Pilgrim Trust; Garfield Weston Foundation.
What We’re Looking For:
- Someone who can turn strategic plans into actionable steps, with a proven ability to develop teams to success.
- Extensive experience in managing culturally significant sites and venues, with a passion for creating activities and events for diverse audiences.
- A creative problem-solver who can identify and seize opportunities for growth, driving both visitor numbers and income generation.
- Ability to engage and inspire stakeholders at all levels, from local government to community volunteers.
- Skilled in managing budgets, forecasting, and ensuring financial sustainability and growth.
