Let us bring the history to you!

Our dedicated Community Heritage Team visit schools across the county as part of our education service for schools. We can provide curriculum linked sessions on any aspect of Lincolnshire's rich history, as well as introductory sessions on national events and historic periods.

We use object-based learning in all our school visits, so pupils will get the chance to handle real artefacts and discover history firsthand.

Our worksheets can be adapted for any tailored focus your education programme or curriculum requires.

Our standard educational school visits are costed based on a half or full day visit. We can also develop and provide bespoke educational provision, individually costed, which are surprisingly affordable!

Depending on your project and its location, we can deliver one or a series of unique workshops in line with the project outline. Schools and students will also have an active role in the development and outcome of the project.

If appropriate, these can be shared with a wider online community through regular project updates posted on Heritage Lincolnshire Social Media pages.

Occasionally, through our own project work, we are also able to offer school’s workshops which are already funded and therefore free to book. To access these opportunities, simply sign up to our newsletter to hear about up and coming activities.

There are two ways to book with us; you can book an individual session, or take advantage of the additional offers within our Education Membership Service.

Half Day (9am – 12pm) - £200 plus VAT

Full Day (9am – 12pm, 1pm – 3pm) - £300 plus VAT

Work experience

Historians, archaeologists and heritage professionals all have to start somewhere!

In order to give our colleagues of the future a helping hand we offer exciting 1 and 2-week placements to students from Lincolnshire schools and colleges who are considering a career in heritage or archaeology.

In a typical week you might go on an archaeological dig, help with our after school club, be involved in planning or delivering events, visits to our historic sites, archiving, marketing, social media, visitor interpretation, and more!

Additional Resources

We have produced a range of learning resources to support teachers with the history National Curriculum at Key Stage 1, 2, & 3. These provide information and activity ideas to help students understand how local places fit into wider national and world histories.

Our resources also offer suggestions for using Lincolnshire’s historic sites to support learning opportunities outside the classroom in other subjects, such as science, maths, and music.

We are always looking to develop new resources for teachers so please get in touch if there is a topic that you would like more information on.

Visits to Our Historic Sites

There are six historic sites in the care of the Trust and each has great potential for learning outside the classroom.

The historic sites in our care offer great opportunities for learning outside the classroom. Our staff can help you plan your trip with resources, risk assessments, and practical information, as well as assisting you on the day if necessary.
