Dangerous Women of LincolnshireÂ
This entertaining talk looks at four very challenging women from Lincolnshire – all of whom were called Anne! These were women from the 1500s to the 1800s who took on ‘the male establishment’ and shook it up with their own ideas. They include the famous Anne Askew, whose life was ended in 1546 when she was burnt at the stake, but also Ann Carr of Market Rasen who led a notable social mission amidst the slums of Leeds in the early 1800s. The selection also includes two famous Lincolnshire women who went to America – the poet Anne Bradstreet of Boston, and the visionary Anne Hutchinson – who turned Massachusetts upside down!
