The beginners’ course teaches all of the basic skills and techniques to get you started in the brilliant hobby of leather craft. By the end of the day, you will have created your own small handmade item, such as a bookmark or luggage tag, decorated using the skills taught. Make it classic, simple or elaborate, but make it individual and to your own tastes.

Intermediate Workshop: Join workshop favourite Laurence White as he demonstrates the traditional skill of leathercraft in this full-day intermediate session. The intermediate course develops skills learnt on the beginners’ course and introduces new ones which will enable you to take your leather craft to the next level of intricacy. You will create a piece from a range of designs and patterns, then decorate and stain the item with a choice of colours. Choices include your own spectacle case, pocket tidy, valet tray, or a belt.

Saturday 15th April: 9.30am – 3.30pm

Advanced Workshop: Designed for more experienced learners, join workshop favourite Laurence White as he demonstrates advanced skills in traditional leathercraft in this full-day advanced session. The advanced course teaches more complex and intricate methods and gives students a much freer approach to what they want to create. Before the session, you will be invited to contact Laurence with ideas on what you would like to craft. He can also offer a wider range of small projects to try if you are unsure.

Saturday 13th May: 9.30am – 3.30pm

Venue: The Old King’s Head, 28 High Street, Kirton Boston. PE20 1EG.

Please Note:

This course is more intensive than the beginner or intermediate courses and offers greater freedom of choice in what you wish to craft. It is not recommended for those who have no or little prior experience of leather craft as it is expected that students will already be familiar with the basics.
The class size is limited to 6 per session to enable more student-teacher time for teaching advanced skills and for guidance on individual projects.
Attendees will be contacted after placing your booking and given instructions to contact Laurence directly. This is so that you can discuss the project you have in mind, or alternatively see what the tutor has to offer if you are unsure of what you would like to make.
A standard allocation of material will be provided and is included in the course cost. If you wish to make something large which exceeds this allocation, Laurence is happy to supply additional leather, however, you may be asked to pay a surcharge directly to him to cover the additional cost of the material. This is only applicable for large projects requiring more than the standard allocation. You may also bring your own materials if you prefer, in which case the surcharge does not apply. This can be discussed with the tutor directly.

Prices: Members: £150 / Non-members: £170
