Lincolnshire is famous for the part it played in World War 2 as ‘Bomber County’. From airfields across the county, men set off on hundreds of airborne operations over occupied Europe. However, time has all but forgotten the important contribution by women during those war years.
This selection of extracts includes accounts of life in the Women’s Land Army, the work of the WAAF and the difficulties of growing up and motherhood between 1939 and 1945.
