‘What People Left Behind for us to Find’

A series of talks looking for evidence of the people who lived in the area from five different periods:

Iron Age
Roman
Saxon & Viking (Early Medieval)
Norman
Medieval

As we approach the more modern periods there is evidence still above ground in the form of buildings etc. For the earlier periods we rely more on archaeological excavations, metal detecting, aerial photography and LiDAR. Join archaeologist and historian Karen Adams (PastSearch) to discover what people from the past have behind left for us to find!

Notes on the Speaker:

Karen Adams grew up in York and became very interested in the history of that city leading to a career in archaeology, both freelance and as an independent archaeological contract.

During her time as an archaeologist Karen has excavated sites of many different periods, particularly from Iron Age to modern, discovering items left behind by the people who lived and worked in those periods and adding to the developing picture of how the landscape has changed .

After 30+ years, Karen has recently taken the decision to concentrate on presenting archaeology and history through talks and workshops to groups either by visiting their venues or by Zoom. Allowing the next generation of archaeologists to make new discoveries.

Karen is looking forward to presenting these five talks for Heritage Lincolnshire over the coming months and for people with a passion for heritage, archaeology and history.
