Description

Since prehistoric times, people have harnessed the power of the wind and windmills first appeared in England in the 12th century. Over the years their design changed and they were ubiquitous in the landscape of Eastern England until well into the 20th century. Although, once crucial to our agricultural economy, they became mostly redundant. It is estimated that 500 once stood in Lincolnshire but now only11 are restored to working order and 123 have some surviving part. This book examines their remains.

A glossy covered, 176 page book and an interesting read.

Written by David Jager and published by Heritage Lincolnshire in 2007.
