Working in partnership with The National Centre for Craft & Design www.nccd.org.uk, join us online and learn about Silverpoint Drawing. Step into the shoes of the “Renaissance Masters” and try out the delicate 15th century technique of drawing with a metal stylus, a technique of Leonardo Da Vinci and Raphael.

As part of this workshop, participants will discover the history of silverpoint and metalpoint drawing, along with contemporary artists using silverpoint today, be given an overview of the tools and materials required, learn how to prepare a suitable ground for drawing on (it doesn’t work just on paper!), be taught the techniques for mark making, creating light and shade, the effects of oxidisation and together you will follow clear steps to draw a copy of a Da Vinci portrait in silverpoint.

Date: Sunday 13th June (bookings close 6th June)

Time: 10am – 12pm

Venue: Online

Ticket Prices: Members of Heritage Lincolnshire £20, non-members £25 and members of NCCD. £25

A craft kit will be provided including 4 sheets of A6 watercolour paper prepared with white silverpoint drawing ground, A6 Tracing paper sheet for keeping fingerprints off the work and a paper clip/short length of wire to draw with. It is not essential, but participants may like to find a selection of different metals to draw with and bring them to the workshop to experiment with. Suggestions include: a silver earring or pendant, a silver spoon, a wedding ring, a nail, a piece of old wire or a piece of copper pipe.

Please note Drawing ability is not essential at all – if you can make a mark on paper then you can take part in the workshop.
