Tattershall College

Please note that Tattershall College is currently closed to the public for safety reasons. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Tattershall College is the ruin of a grammar school built in the late 15th century.

It is one of a complex of buildings built by Ralph, Lord Cromwell, including Tattershall Castle, the collegiate church and the almshouses.

Why not combine a visit with an exploration of the other medieval buildings of Tattershall?

The building served as a grammar school for tenants of Lord Cromwell and his successors, providing a free education in a time when few had access to it.

The building was converted into a malt house as part of Tattershall brewery in the late 18th century. When the brewery closed in the early 20th century the building fell into disrepair until a public campaign was raised during the 1970s in order to save it for the nation.

Location

Car parking is available in the market place in the centre of the village. The college is located opposite the marketplace -follow the brown signs.

Wheelchair access is available into the college to view inside the building. There are some steps to gain access to all areas.
