1450: A Turning Point

Most accounts of the Wars of the Roses place its beginning at the First Battle of St Albans in 1455. Trouble had ben brewing for a long time by then, though. Perhaps nowhere is this more obvious that in 1450, a year of explosive politics, shocking murders, and popular revolt against a floundering king. Matt Lewis will take us through this tumultuous year to demonstrate the mess England was in and ask whether this year made the Wars of the Roses inevitable.
