Part of the Lincolnshire HODs Festival 2023

Founded 1710, Spalding Gentlemen’s Society, Britain’s oldest surviving provincial learned society. Todays dedicated volunteers collate and conserve the collection ensuring its future survival.
William Stukeley was born in Holbeach and spent a lot of his life travelling around Britain on horseback pursuing his archaeological interests. A prominent member of SGS, Royal Society and Society of Antiquaries.
Visit to enjoy hand written notebooks, prints and some rare artefacts.
In conjunction some original collection gems from the library, researched by Leicester University student will be displayed. These include an early Newton and Lutheran text from the library of Henry VIII (or Cranmer).
