HOD – Threekingham Viking Festival

Part of the Lincolnshire HODs Festival 2023

Meet hundreds of Vikings as they set up camp in Threekingham to do battle with the Anglo Saxon locals in a recreation of the 870 AD Battle of Stow. With a living history encampment, activities, archaeology, lectures and battles, you’re sure to have a roaring day out! Meet the Viking Army in their vast living history encampment, amongst craftsmen, traders and warriors. Get hands on with their equipment and learn how to live and fight as a Viking. With activities for all ages, including an archaeological dig for children, mock battles and a comprehensive lecture programme in the nearby village Church. Twice a day the Vikings will take to the field to do battle with the Anglo Saxons. Whose side will you be on?

Four 30 minute lectures will be held throughout each day in the village church. Full Viking Battle will take place twice each day. The event is held in a field so care should be taken when walking on uneven ground. Blue Badge Parking will be provided as close as possible to the Main Arena to view the battle displays and encampment, but weather conditions may deem the field unsuitable for using wheelchairs over distance.
