HODs – Inside Nettleham – A Busy Farming Community

14 September 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Part of the Lincolnshire HODs Festival 2022

Only one of Nettleham’s barns is still extant. Many others are recognisable although put to another use. Join us for a walk around this beautiful village to look back at scenes of the 19th Century, when Nettleham was a rural farming centre, as evidenced by clues from the past which we can see today.

Frequently the barn was the largest building in any farm complex, hence the chances are that it will survive long after the other buildings become derelict. There are many such barns in Nettleham, giving evidence of its rural and busy past. It was no doubt quite a wealthy centre since a number were very large. The walk visits several of these as well as looking at supporting industries from the past.
