HODs – The Great Gainsborough Treasure Hunt!

13 September 2022 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 9:00 am, repeating until 17 September 2022

Part of the Lincolnshire HODs Festival 2022

This family friendly Treasure hunt is based on the legend that a casket of gold coins intended for Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Jacobite Rebellion in 1745 was discovered on a ship at the port of Gainsborough. It was confiscated then never heard of again.

This walking trail takes you from the start at Marshall’s Yard, through ‘Old Gainsborough’ to the riverside.

Follow the clues in the booklet, then decode the answers to get to the treasure and claim a reward! There is a small instant reward for children taking part and a chance to enter a prize draw for a high street voucher! Booklets can be collected in advance from Gainsborough Library which is open 6 days a week.

The Treasure Hunt route is on pavements and level pathways with pedestrian crossings. Parking is available at public carparks and public conveniences are located at Roseway carpark which is close to the route.
