Volunteer

Volunteering with Heritage Lincolnshire is a fantastic way to gain new skills, experience and knowledge, discover more about your local area, meet new people and, above all, enjoy yourself!

Heritage Lincolnshire is committed to offering high quality volunteering opportunities; in February 2020 the Trust was awarded the Investing in Volunteers standard, a nationally recognised benchmark for best practice for organisations that involve volunteers in their work. Renewed every 3 years, the Trust is keen to constantly improve their volunteering offer and in 2016 appointed a Volunteer Lead to support ongoing development.

Volunteer experience

Celebrating National Volunteers Week from 1-6th June we asked some of our volunteers the BIG questions about their volunteering experience here at Heritage Lincolnshire.

From Heritage Hero Award nominations, the odd group restaurant trip, meeting other like-minded volunteers and sharing some of their most memorable moments as volunteers, our Digital Heritage Engagement Trainee Kate finds out more.......

Kate had a chat with Lead Volunteer Jackie Goodall in June 2021 about her time with Heritage Lincolnshire as she steps down from her role.

Jackie has been an incredible help to Heritage Lincolnshire's work over the last 5 years, and her passion for encouraging ongoing volunteer development and training led to her being recognised at the Lincolnshire Heritage Awards with a Judges' Special Award for outstanding contribution to Lincolnshire heritage.

Thank you Jackie!

Volunteering Opportunities

We regularly have different volunteering opportunities at Heritage Lincolnshire.  Please take a look below and click on the pictures for more information.

If there is something in particular you would really like to get involved in, that isn't detailed below, please contact us on volunteering@heritagelincolnshire.org

The input and support of our large body of dedicated volunteers is crucial to much of what we do. Since the Trust was established in 1988 we have raised over £25 million of project funding and delivered a range of successful heritage projects, all of which have benefited greatly from volunteer input.

We offer a variety of roles to suit all ages, abilities and backgrounds; training and support is provided by our staff members. Volunteer opportunities are flexible; we offer long term, short term and one-off roles. Have a look at our volunteer leaflet to see the types of roles we can offer.

Our community heritage projects generate many different volunteering opportunities; from the members of our project steering groups to the people who get involved in project activities and events, carry out heritage surveys, or take part in community excavations. Take a look at our projects page  to find out more.
