HODs – Weelsby Hall Open Day

10 September 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Part of the Lincolnshire HODs Festival 2022

Discover the history of Weelsby Hall, from a trawler owner’s mansion house to a facility which supports people with learning disabilities.

Owned by Linkage Community Trust, Weelsby Hall is one of the grandest buildings in North East Lincolnshire and is not usually accessible to the public. This special event is part of the Heritage Open Days Festival, England’s largest festival of history and culture.

Weelsby Hall is vitally important to Grimsby’s heritage and particularly its fishing heritage, having been built for George Sleight in the late 1800s. Linkage Community Trust, a Lincolnshire-based charity, acquired North East Lincolnshire’s grandest building in 1982 to serve the local and national needs of people with learning disabilities.

Find out about the heritage of this wonderful place through a self-guided tour around the grounds, with access to the entrance hall of Weelsby Hall and a small number of interior rooms. Learn more about how a grant from National Lottery Heritage Fund is helping Linkage to explore how the charity can preserve the hall for future generations.
